Academic/professional history:
Before practicing law full-time, Spencer Busby was a journalist, television producer, and newspaper and magazine editor. He worked as a producer for WNEW-TV Metromedia in New York, as a New Jersey Courier News reporter, and as an editor of La Mesa Courier, Trial Trends, Trial Bar News, and California Evidence Law Reporter. He graduated with honors from Oberlin College in 1976, and from University of San Diego Law School in 1979 where he served as editor of the USD Law School newspaper.

He has appeared as a legal commentator on CNN/Larry King Live, Nancy Grace, and the O’Reilly Factor, relative to his work in the van Dam case.
